A short storyTwo minds, one café.

Skip the story: hours

One day we decided to open a café. The deciding was quick; the thinking about it took a little longer. The line on the glass turned up along the way: “Overthinking Coffee”. See the photo of the door

One of us is Tuncay: author, founder of HappyİZ. The other is Seda: dietitian, the menu is her job. We both have AuDHD; we found out late. Who we are

Inside there are tables you may sit at for a long time; the window is big, and the inside is plainer than the drawing on the glass. You won’t hear “stop thinking so much” from us. Check before coming

The place: Kadıköy, Rasimpaşa, Nakil Sokak. We say Kediköy, because kadı means judge, kedi means cat, and these streets have more cats than judges. There’s a marble step in front of the door, sometimes with a cat on it; we can’t make promises on the cat’s behalf. Read Kediköy

The menu is Seda’s job: she wants it to say what’s in it; we don’t like surprises, not even in dessert. Thinking a lot takes time, so the same guest, on the same visit, gets the second drink at half price. Read the house rule

The words on our glass doorİyi ki varsın.

Güvenli alan, güzel sohbetler.

So glad you’re here. A safe space, good conversations.

This photo shows how it looks from outside today. For the inside, this site shows 3D images generated on a computer; they aren’t photos, and the real room may look different.

The café from outside today: a sage-green awning and two large glass panes in sage-green frames. On the left pane, gold lines on a dark ground draw a café interior: hanging lamps, shelves, a sofa, round tables and chairs. On the right, the glass door carries gold lettering and a butterfly: “HAPPYiZ Overthinking Coffee”, “Hoş geldiniz • Welcome • Willkommen”, “Olduğun gibi gel.” (Turkish: Come as you are.), “Come as you are. Come with us.”, a cup, “İyi ki varsın. Güvenli alan, güzel sohbetler.” (Turkish: So glad you’re here. A safe space, good conversations.) A marble step in front of the door, then the pavement.
From outside, as of October 2026. The drawing on the glass is imagined; the inside is plainer.

Before you come

KediköyOfficially it’s Kadıköy. We read it as Kediköy: cat village.

If you’d like to bring your own cat or dog, let’s talk beforehand; then they can come inside too.

We don’t know whether cats overthink. But they aren’t the only creatures that can stare at the same spot for hours. There’s room for that here too.

3D image, not a photo: a ginger tabby cat lies with its eyes closed and paws tucked in on a pale marble step in front of a sage-green door with expanded-metal mesh. It is not any particular cat.

    About the game

Kediköy is a play on words; the district’s official name is Kadıköy, and the neighbourhood is Rasimpaşa.
